Mission The National Health Authority, as the highest health care authority in Qatar, has the following responsibility:
Setting the national health care strategy.
Setting the policies, plans, programmes and auditing required to carry out the national strategy.
Setting and modernising the quality standards according to international standards.
Controlling, evaluating performance and setting review plans to avoid under performance and keeping quality standards.
Controlling the national public health services and treatment of citizens abroad.
Organising the work of medical and co-medical professions, pharmacology, agents of medicine factories and companies and issuing authorisation to work in these fields.
Supervising and administering the public hospitals, health centres and other medical entities.
Setting plans to provide the best professional, technical and managerial personnel as well as train national citizens in these fields.
Organising the private sector establishments including hospitals, clinics, medical labs, pharmacies and the places that practise medicine and issuing authorisation.
Coordination with the State Medical Insurance.
Setting a scientific research plan in the health field as well as controlling and developing the State health research centres.
Coordinating with the State medical institutions concerned.
Raising the level of health awareness and spreading health culture in the State.
Controlling and managing the state health information technical systems and setting systems for records and medical information, using the latest technological means.
Organising medicine and other cosmetic merchandising alongside controlling its manufacturing.
Executing agreements related to public medical health, researches, medical administration and medical education with similar committees and establishments and representing the state at health conferences, debates, meetings, organisations and committees regionally and internationally.
Suggesting regulations and creating projects related to the Authority specialisation and executing the health care strategy.
The Authority supervises the following directorates:
Hamad Medical Corporation.
Specialised Educational hospital.
Establishing private sector hospitals, clinics, medical labs, pharmacies and the places of practising medicine.
